Job Description

BIG YAM is seeking an experienced front-end web developer to work closely with our team of designers to create user-friendly, responsive websites for our clients. You will be responsible for building and maintaining both internal and clients’ websites, as well as creating email templates and assisting with content population. This role requires you to be detail-oriented, work cross-departmentally, and be able to manage your time across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.


  • Convert Photoshop mockups to functional HTML, CSS/Sass, and JavaScript
  • Create custom WordPress themes from scratch and modify existing themes
  • Test front-end code on a variety of different browsers, screen resolutions, and devices
  • Troubleshoot and fix bugs
  • Create and test custom HTML email templates
  • Integrate email templates into MailChimp and handle newsletter deployments
  • Work closely with designers to accurately execute their creative vision
  • Work closely with back-end developers to integrate front-end code into a CMS
  • Write and maintain documentation for both internal and client use
  • Provide CMS and MailChimp training to clients
  • Assist with CMS content population
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 2+ years of professional experience in front-end development
  • Demonstrated proficiency with HTML, CSS/Sass, and JavaScript
  • Experience with Git, NPM, and Gulp
  • Experience working in Adobe Photoshop
  • Experience creating custom themes and plugins for WordPress
  • Understanding of best practices for UX, responsive web design, SEO, performance, and accessibility
  • Understanding of best practices for HTML email development
  • Experience working with MailChimp and email testing tools, such as Litmus or Email on Acid
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to collaborate with designers, back-end developers, digital media specialists, and account managers
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-project environment with tight deadlines
