Job Description

The Communications Account Executive works closely with the department director and vice president and acts as a primary client contact, handling day-to-day management of assigned projects/accounts. Duties include building media relationships, developing press materials, overseeing all media messaging and managing the client voice. In this role, the account executive also assists with new business development and strategy.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use PR and social media tactics to increase clients’ brand awareness among media and key influencers
  • Assist in developing and executing results-driven public relations, social media and product launch campaigns
  • Write media advisories, press releases, fact sheets, blogs, newsletters, award submissions, executive talking points, internal communication and other messaging for both the agency and a variety of clients
  • Draft social media content and manage various platforms - including community management, influencer engagement and reporting
  • Execution of all of client initiatives including direct media pitching, content creation, coordinating interviews, securing speaking engagements and award opportunities
  • Establish relationships with key media members and industry influencers
  • Define and measure the impact of PR activities and report to clients
  • Assist with new business proposals and existing client strategy as needed
  • Various duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism or a related field
  • 3-5 years public relations/communications experience – agency experience is a plus

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent communication, writing, editing and project management skills
  • Strong media relations skills; proven track record of success advancing technologies and/or corporate agendas among press and key influencers
  • Social media savvy; using social media channels to advance communications goals/initiatives
  • Ability to quickly prioritize and react to changing market dynamics and developments and communicate priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Collaborative, team-orientated style
  • High level of energy, passionate about PR

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Digital media experience is a plus – photography, video editing, working knowledge of Adobe Suite, etc.
  • Familiarity with WordPress
